An Interventional Radiologist is a doctor who specialises in minimally invasive image-guided procedures, which treat a variety of medical conditions without the need for major surgery. This is not only a less invasive form of surgery and disease treatment but is also beneficial to patients through the minimisation of postoperative risks. Interventional Radiologists use medical imaging modalities such as X-rays, CT, ultrasound and MRI to direct specially designed instruments throughout the body to treat medical conditions such as fibroids, adenomyosis, liver and gallbladder problems, kidney problems, prostate enlargement, haemorrhoids, bleeding from trauma, pulmonary conditions and even localised cancer treatment.
